Log 29, Eucalypt, gum eyes

Log 29, Eucalypt, gum eyes.   A very large diameter short split log with gum eyes and gum veins in the outer wood, especially at the butt end, now prized for its appearance.  The heart at the butt end contains many splits probably sustained during falling or recovery.  This very large piece contains premium quality wood which can be milled into very large slabs, squares or boards.  Timber recovery is likely to be good despite the split face and heart splits at the butt end.  No evidence of past or recent attack by pin hole borers.  Length 2.8 metres, butt diameter 145 cm, head diameter 125 cm, volume about 2.5 cubic metres, total weight about 3200 kg.   IST Geeveston could mill this log to order on their bandsaw mill at $170 per hour, any questions please to chris.emmett@sttas.com.au
