Log 16, Leatherwood, red-heart. A small diameter log with bumps, limbs, surface spiral grain, handling damage and sun cracks. The butt end shows some stain/rot from an old scar and the head end has red-heart style colour. It should be milled in two lengths for best timber recovery. No visible fresh pin hole borers. Length 4.0 metres, butt diameter 29 cm, head diameter 25 cm, volume 0.23 cubic metres, weight about 250 kg. IST Geeveston could mill this log into slabs or boards on their bandsaw mill at $150 per hour, contact Mr Chris Emmett if you have any questions.
During harvest planning STT exclude areas rich in leatherwood from coupes however if usable leatherwood logs are found during harvest operations these are recovered for timber production.
